8th Catford (St Andrews) Brownie Pack - Friday night

Brownies is for girls aged from seven to ten years.

8th Catford Brownie PackOur packs have a full programme of games, badge work, outings, district events and the occasional Brownie Holiday. We aim to learn in a fun environment.

To quote our Chief Guide, Liz Burnley “Our aim is to help girls and young women gain the confidence, skills and experience necessary to broaden their horizons and reach for new goals. We prioritise leadership and management, assuming responsibility and building teams, taking the initiative, understanding rights and responsibilities, and caring for others – skills which our members can take into the rest of their lives, in their family, their work and their communities”.

3rd Catford Brownies activitiesWe have an exciting time ahead as Girlguiding UK looks forward to the centenary of Brownies in 2014. There will be lots of fun events to attend.

Due to problems with the accommodation at St Andrew's, we currently meet in St.Mark's Hall, Baudwin Road on Tuesday evenings (3rd Catford) and Friday evenings (8th Catford). We visit St Andrew's on a regular basis for church parades and other events

New members are always welcome. For further information please contact

Youth Group

St Andrew’s Youth Group met for the first time in October 2008, and now meet on the first Sunday of the month from 2.00 to 4.00pm, in the church hall. There is a small charge of 50p to cover costs.

The group was started to cater for the children who had “outgrown” the Sunday School, giving them a chance to meet informally and have time to socialise. Initially the children discussed how they would operate and decided to respect each other’s space and needs and have their mobile phones kept on silent mode.

During sessions we play dodge ball, table tennis (very popular), draughts, swing ball and magnetic darts. Members bring CD’s to play and there is a juice bar for refreshments. When the weather was too cold to meet in the hall we held a Christmas Social at my house and made pizza and smoothies and played games. In July we also had a BBQ in my garden.

Feedback from the group has been mostly positive.

I thank God for his guidance and for the support and help from other members of the congregation in providing both time and practical help.

I would also like to thank the members for helping us all to have fun! The adults are reaping the benefits of improving their table tennis skills and keeping fit playing dodge ball.

If anyone in the area is interested in joining the group please contact me initially via the church’s contact phone number or email.
