About Us

Our Vision and Mission

We seek to be a vibrant, warm-hearted church family and local hub, with St Andrew’s not merely at the geographical heart of our parish but actively engaging with, and serving, our local community, central to the lives of all our parishioners. This vision is based on three main priorities: grow our congregation, in particular our children and young people; celebrate diversity and practice inclusion across our worship and parish life; continue to develop a meaningful outreach programme.

Children & Young People at St Andrew's

We warmly welcome all children and young people to our services and events. Sunday School meets the first Sunday of each month in the Hall, during the 10am service, joining the congregation during the Offertory. The last Sunday of the month, the children contribute to the service, reading the lessons and leading the prayers. We have some special services and activities dedicated to families; for example, our Christmas Eve Family service and Easter Egg Hunt on Good Friday.

St Andrew’s, Catford is part of the Church of England, in the Diocese of Southwark. We belong to an international community of Anglican Christians, but as a local parish church, are here to serve our community on the Corbett Estate and beyond.

Reflecting this dynamic, civic-minded area, we seek to be a vibrant, warm-hearted church family and local hub, not merely at the geographical heart of our parish but actively engaging with and serving the community, central to the lives of all parishioners. A tradition led, but inclusive, friendly church, we have a rich musical tradition with a choral Eucharist every Sunday; in addition to regular worship services, we organise and host a variety of engaging events, from concerts to quizzes, fairs to festivals.

We bid a fond farewell to our vicar Fr Lindsay McKenna when he retired last year; however, we are thrilled to have now appointed a new vicar: Reverend Rebecca ‘Bec’ Wilkinson, who will start in January. Until then, in addition to our fantastic lay ministry team, we have been enjoying an array of visiting local priests who have kindly stepped in to support us during the vacancy. We look forward to welcoming Rev’d Bec in January!

To find out more about who we are and what we’re like, come along to a service! You will find a warm welcome when you visit our main Sunday Choral Eucharist at 10am, our Thursday service (Eucharist or Morning Prayer) at 9:30am and/or any of our many events in the church or the Hall – check out our events page and keep an eye on our socials for up-to-date information.

Please get in touch if you have a pastoral need, if we can pray for you, or if you would like to enquire about having a wedding, christening or funeral at St Andrew’s.

We hope to welcome you soon to a service, open day or event!
