Safeguarding

A Safe Church

The care, wellbeing and safety of all is of vital importance to us. At St Andrew’s we are committed to creating a safe, secure environment, taking responsibility for the safeguarding of children and adults who may be vulnerable in our parish.

St Andrew’s Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) is Jacqueline Joseph-Grotefeld.

If you have a safeguarding concern, please email her at:

or contact the Southwark Diocesan safeguarding team (details below).

We adhere to the Diocese of Southwark’s policies, procedures and guidelines, which are set out in ‘A Safe Church’ – available here. This manual is designed to be used as a tool as and when necessary: some sections will be more relevant to some people than to others; and you may need to find specific sections in a hurry, depending on your particular concern. We recommend that you download ‘How to & Contents’ to help decide which sections you need. If you are unable to find the relevant information, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our PSO or the Diocesan safeguarding team on 0207 939 9478.

As noted, if you have concerns about a safeguarding issue in the parish, please contact Jacqui, our PSO, speak to Rev Bec or a member of the ministry team, or contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Office:

0207 939 9441 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm)

Emergencies: If you have immediate concerns about your or someone else’s safety, please phone 999. If you are worried that a child, young person or adult is at risk of being harmed, abused or neglected, contact social services within your local authority’s Children or Adult Services.
